Technology company Huawei has unveiled its new Mate 40 smartphone, which according to Apple will have a better processor than the new iPhone 12.

The company claims the processor is based on “five nanometer” technology, similar to the chip used in the iPhone. Huawei claims to have billions of transistors in the processor, which is 30% more than the Apple A14 processor.

Because of these features, the company claims that its new Mate 40 smartphone is “more powerful” than the iPhone 12.
Huawei, however, said the chip used in the Mate 40 is not, as the chip is exported from the U.S., but the U.S. has imposed trade sanctions on China since September this year.

This means that if the company moves away from these processors called Karen 9000, it will not be able to produce more Mate 40 smartphones after a while.
Currently, only two companies in the world have the option to make a five-meter chip. These include TSMC in Taiwan and Samsung in South Korea.

U.S. sanctions prohibit the Chinese company Huawei from transporting a chip or any semiconductor product. Or any product that uses (American technology and software.)

Huawei said the U.S. decision is based on national security and that the U.S. is not a threat.

The BBC tried to find out how many chips are currently in Huawei, but the company did not answer the question.

Huawei consumer Richard Yu admitted in an online presentation that the company is facing major problems due to the U.S. trade ban.

Huawei in Washington faces several other sanctions. The company has not introduced a smartphone in the US since mid-2019, and many of its phones, including the Play Store, are unable to use Google services.
Nevertheless, Huawei phones are the third best-selling phone in the world and the largest smartphone company in China.

“Huawei is at a high level in China and people are more aware of the brand,” said technology expert Mo Jia.

He claims that the demand for Mate 40 is high in China. However, Huawei’s new phone will be limited during U.S. sanctions due to the absence of other parts, including the Karan chip.
